My family and I had lunch last Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011 at Mandarin G-mall. Since my mother is cannot eat pork and chicken-based dishes, I ordered a beef dish for her instead of fish (since she already had it 2 days ago @ Mandarin DCLA). When our order arrived, I notice the somewhat black color of the meat served to my mother. It was unusual because beef are usually pinkish or redish in color. We did not mind anyway because it was already past 12 noon and we were so hungry.

But around 3pm that day, 2 hours after lunch, my mother was experiencing sever joint and muscle pains that she almost fell face forward while strolling the mall.

We had to get home early. The following day, my mother was unable to walk and had to lie down the entire day. We were very worried. My mother is the only parent I have and you should understand how worried we were, my siblings and I.

We had to recall what my mom had eaten before the aches she experienced and there we realized that it could be the beef rice toppings.

We think that it was not actually BEEF, but a CARA-BEEF— a carabao meat.

You see, my family is very sensitive to carabao meat. My sister for one will have toothache once she eats the meat. I usually have stomach ache whenever I accidentally and unknowingly eat carabao meat. But for my mother, it’s quite severe.

I am writing this to serve as a warning for Mandarin Tea Garden who might (without their knowledge) serving carabao meat to their customers.

My family and I have been patronizing Mandarin Tea Garden for 8 years now and I’m very devastated and frustrated with what happened to my mother.

I’m hoping and praying that this won’t happen to my mother again, and to others who also have sensitivity to CARABAO meat.

    God bless Mandarin Tea Garden!
